White spot disease, better known as Ich, is one of the most common parasitic infections you'll come across as a fishkeeper - and one of the most stressful to watch spread through a tank. API White Spot Cure is formulated to treat it quickly in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, while also adding a protective slime coat to help fish recover.
Ich is caused by a microscopic parasite that burrows into gill and skin tissue, and it can spread fast once established. Catching it early and treating it properly makes a real difference to how quickly your fish bounce back.
White spots on the body aren't always visible, so it's worth knowing the early behavioural signs too - darting around the tank, scratching against gravel or ornaments, laboured breathing, and fish lingering near filters or air stones. If you notice these signs, it's worth treating promptly rather than waiting for spots to appear.
This treatment is not recommended for reef aquariums or any freshwater or saltwater setup containing invertebrates, as corals and invertebrates can be sensitive to the medication. Please check your tank's inhabitants carefully before dosing.
